ANZAC Day Ceremony

At 9.10am this morning we held an Anzac Day remembrance ceremony here at school.

Viliami and Salena (headboy and headgirl), and Ella and Ayush (deputies) were our MC's for the day.

Brianna recited the prayer of remembrance.

Anahera said In Flanders Field poem.

21 leaders recited a fact while the wreaths were laid on the crosses.

Ngahinaturae said the Ode.

Yousif finished with the prayer of peace.

We listened to the Last Post, we had a minutes silence and we listened to the rouse while Vili and Salena raised the flag.

Whaea Lois played the national anthem while we sang.

We got some really good praise for our ceremony.

Mr Vasau said we spoke really clearly, and he was so impressed.
Mrs Tofilau and her visitors thought it was excellent.
A few teachers told Miss J they were really impressed with our leadership and the way we spoke.

Measurement

We have started off our unit about measurement by looking at non-standard units of measurement.

We have been measuring our height with popsicle sticks, matchsticks and pens.  We have measured distance in footsteps and handspans.

Some are accurate and some aren't (Anaru)

We shouldn't do all of our measuring in non standard because it's all not the same (Charlotte)

Our feet are all different sizes so all the measurements are different (Ella)

Our handspans are different because our hands are bigger and smaller (Tiana)

When we measure our body with popsicle sticks it's all different because some of us are taller and shorter (Sela)

We took steps to the pig pen from our class and I took 145 steps, Rawiri took 140 and Raukawa took 143 (Kruz)

The distance doesn't change, it just means that people have bigger and smaller shoes (Victoria)

If Miss J told us to measure a big long distance it would take forever!

Loads of measurement going on.

Kruz didn't have as many popsicle sticks as anyone else

Miss J's animation

Hi Titans,

I have been at a course in the holidays and have learnt new tricks about animation on slides.  What do you think?!
