SKOOLBO

Skoolbo is awesome. We are working really hard on literacy and basic facts when we have skoolbo time on the Chromebooks. Each week the scores are reset to zero. We just looked on the leaderboard and WOOHOO we are coming first as a class!!! I wonder by the end of the week if we'll still be on the top of the board? We'll have to wait and see.....oh and keep working hard! That's really important :-)

Hangout with Jakarta

Yesterday at school Room 22 had the opportunity to have a hangout on air with a school in Jakarta and learn a bit more about their culture and the differences between our school and country, and their school and country.  Please check out the video, it was an awesome learning experience!  Can't wait to do that again!  Miss J

Miss Johnson picked the most responsible of all the kids  (Sela).  A girl named Tania introduced herself and her school - the Singapore International School (Amy).  Then Amy introduced our school to them - ROWANDALE SCHOOL!  Then a boy told us about what's cool in Indonesia.  He even told us some of the islands they have in Indonesia.  Ayush then replied about the cool things in New Zealand which was that we have kiwis and the tallest building is the sky tower.  We asked them what they had for lunch and they said they have fried chicken and we said we have sandwiches.  We asked them do you use technology devices?  They said yes and they said they used iPads and computers.  They then asked us questions like when do we start and finish school and what holidays do we celebrate.  We looked at questions on twitter and we answered it.  Sadly our bell rang and we had to say goodbye!

BOGGLE!

Here is this week's boggle.  We are going to use it as a tumble activity today so there should be some words later on.

Please feel free to comment the words that you find.  You get one point for 3 and 4 letter words, 2 points for 5 letter words and 4 points for 6 letter words and bigger.  If all the letters you use connect then you can double your points!

Crocodile Creche

Today we read a journal story about baby crocodiles.  The mum crocodile lays the egg in a nest and then watches it until the babies make noise.  Then she comes back and carries them in her mouth to the water.  She looks after them for a while and then they are on their own.  Only some survive.  They start in eggs that are 5-8 cms long and end up big as!

We made some pic collages as a follow up.
