Waste Audit

Today we had a waste audit in school to see where we could improve our rubbish at school.  We took all of Wednesday's rubbish to the hall.  The results were pretty terrible!  There was food in the rubbish when it should have gone to the pigs!  Some of the food wasn't even opened!  There was recyclable rubbish in with landfill rubbish.  We have loads of work to do to make our school a real enviro school!

Here are some ideas we came up with...

* put your rubbish in the right bins (Delaney)

* we could label our bins (Brianna)

* don't litter because the rubbish might go to the ocean (Sanford)

* eat your food or take it home - don't throw it away (Tiana)

* don't waste food (Ngahuia)

* if you see any rubbish on the ground put it in the bin (Neha)

* take your rubbish home (Wyntah)

* if you don't want your lunch, then take it home and eat it later (Brianna)

* if you get food from the office, then don't waste it (Rawiri)

* give food scraps to the pigs (Sanford)

* do the right thing and pick up rubbish you see (Jahvarn)

* take food home if you can't eat it all and give it to your brothers and sisters (Jodeci)

* don't throw rubbish down the drain because it will kill sea creatures (Precious)

* fold your milk and put it in the bin (Sanford)

* don't throw your rubbish on the floor (Paris)

* if we get apples, bananas or pears for fruit give the scraps to the pigs.  Don't give them oranges though (Brianna)

* only paper and cardboard in the recycling bin

                                                  It was pretty smelly in there...

                            The enviro lady gave us a talk about how we need to look after our Earth.

Connor's Drawing Club

On Thursdays I have a drawing club.  We use www.easydrawingtutorials.com and learn how to draw cartoon characters.  Mr Vasau said Miss Gleeson could give me paper and pencils and rubbers for my club.

Some people are really good drawers.  I am best at drawing Luigi and Mario.
